Steve Olson at SGFsoccer has written a preview of tonight’s sectional battle between the Falcons and the team in the yellow shirts. He takes a look at the friendships that will be suspended for a few hours as well as some of the key matchups. As he did with the boys in the fall, Steve has once again become a prognosticator and has given the edge to the yellow shirts:
“Most importantly, which team will move on? The favorite has to be the Chiefs.”
The Falcons Nation hopes that Steve extends his prediction record to a perfect 0-3 0-2.

Today’s News-Leader has a story about Glendale’s own Ashley Meyer & Rebecca Robinson and Kickapoo’s Rachel Lavoy & Afton Weimer as valedictorians and friends doing battle in tonight’s sectional match.
“‘We feel no pressure,’ said Glendale coach Jeff Rogers. ‘Everyone knows Kickapoo is supposed to win. Just like everyone knew Rolla was supposed to win.’”
Kickoff is at 7:00pm on Cooper 1. With graduation over and final exams for everyone else later in the week, let’s try to get a large turnout from the Falcons Nation.

Glendale Upsets Rolla For Crown
“All that was going on through our heads was ‘don’t run’ because if we miss a (penalty kick) we have to run. No one believed in us, but we believed in ourselves.”
Falcons Knock Out Bulldogs in PKs
SGFsoccer has updated their game report with a very detailed game summary including this observation: “The celebration was loud and boisterous, especially when the Kickapoo players and fans joined in.”
Glendale Denies Rolla’s Attempt For Ninth Straight District Championship
“This is without a doubt the best team we have ever had at Rolla High School,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “So, it’s really tough when you don’t even make it out of your own district.”
In other district playoff news, the Columbia Missourian has a story about Hickman’s District 10 victory over Jefferson City Helias. SGFsoccer explains the similarities between that match and the Glendale/Rolla match.
Finally, here is a headline that will make milk shoot out your nose this morning.

A very happy group of Falcons. They look almost as happy as their parents.
