In lieu of a team camp or HealthTracks we will be providing our own team camp this summer. Attendance is strongly encouraged for all planning to play in the fall. Plan accordingly and contact Coach Rogers if you will not be able to attend or have any financial concerns.

The Pershing Generals defeated Catholic, 2-0, to claim the girl’s 6th middle school championship and the 12th soccer championship for the school. Both goals were scored by seventh grader Emily Cline in the first half. It is the team’s second consecutive championship and third in four years. SGFsoccer has photos and information about the match.
Two Glendale Soccer little sisters helped anchor the Pershing defense as the outside backs: Hannah Garrad and Alix Opfer.
Pershing finishes the season with a 7-0-2 record and is unbeated in their last 18 games. The Pershing Boys and Girls Varsity teams are on a combined 37-game unbeaten streak with a record of 35-0-2 over the past two years. The last time a Pershing Varsity team lost was on May 17, 2004 when the girls lost to Cherokee in the tournament semifinals.
Congratulations to Coach Jim Cook (father of former Glendale assistant coach Ann Cook) for his third middle school championship. He coached the first two boys championship teams at Pershing. This is his first girls championship team.

Coach Rogers wanted everyone to know:
Susan Meyer received a call from Rachel’s mom.
Rachel’s surgery went well and she is currently in recovery. Outlook is very positive. Please keep Rachel in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

SGFsoccer has posted a summary and numerous photos from last night’s match.
The News-Leader has an extended story in the paper version, but it is not posted online. The paper version includes a photo of the webmaster’s favorite frosh.
Congratulations to Lou Opfer for being named one of the News-Leader’s Athletes of the Week for May 15-21, 2006.
Finally, you can get a glimpse of the future Falcons tonight as Pershing takes on their archrival, Catholic, for the Middle School Championship at 7:30pm on Cooper 1. The first two games this season ended in 0-0 ties. FYI, Pershing’s last two girl’s championships have been penalty kick wins over Catholic.

The Falcons lost to the Kickapoo Chiefs, 0-2, in tonight’s sectional match. The Varsity finished the season with a 13-10-1 record and won the District 11 championship.
A big thanks to the Falcons Nation for coming out to support the team. It was, by far, our largest turn out of the season.
