Carthage Postmortem

by Administrator on November 12, 2008

Check back for additional links. We still expect a story in the Carthage paper.

News-Leader: Surging Falcons Roll Into Quarters
“Another two-goal game for Chris Maddox had just propelled the Glendale boys’ soccer team to another postseason win — this one a 5-1 dismantling of Carthage in Tuesday night’s Class 3 sectional at the Cooper Soccer Complex — and the question had to be asked: What in the world has gotten into him?”

Carthage Press: Sectional Preview
The Tigers have nothing to lose and everything to gain, really.

“Most of the guys would tell you they know (Glendale) is a good soccer school,” Rogers said, “but they don’t know much about them, which is kind of to our advantage. It takes away the fear of playing a name.”

“Even so, the Tigers were able to run the table early. In fact, Carthage would have had a 1-0 lead, but the goal didn’t count because of a controversial offsides penalty.

The Tigers were penalized 14 times against Glendale’s seven. Whether all 14 penalties were justified is another matter.”
