The Rolla Daily News has a preview of tonight’s match:
Rolla improved to 20-5. It’s only the third time in the history of the program that the Bulldogs have won 20 games. RHS was 21-7 in 2004 and won a program-best 22 games in 2002 with a 22-4-1 record.
Rolla, who has been in 14 of its last 15 district tournament finals, will face Glendale in the Class 3, District 11 championship game. It will be played Thursday at 6 p.m. in Waynesville.
The Falcons are 18-3 and are ranked No. 14 in the state. Rolla has won 10 of their previous 13 district finals with all three losses coming at the hands of Glendale, including a 4-0 loss last year and a 2-0 loss in 2005. The Bulldogs recently beat the Falcons 3-1 in a regular season game played Oct. 9 in Rolla.
“This game is how success is determined for us,” RHS head coach Mike Howard said. “We take pride in playing well at the end of the season and Thursday’s game decides if this group will add anything to our banner. Glendale is a great team and are well-coached. The results of the first game mean nothing.
“Each team gets 80 minutes to show that they deserve to move on and represent this district in the state tournament.”
