In the French Soccer League (Ligue 1), Auxerre wears white with royal blue accents at home. Marseille only brought their light blue and white striped away uniforms which were too close to Auxerre’s home whites. The result: Marseille had to wear Auxerre’s hideous brown (and pink) 3rd kit with their light blue shorts and socks.
To add injury to the insult, Auxerre defeated Marseille, 2-0.
It just goes to show, once again, that Columbia Blue and brown do not mix.
